Reece Cups and Scalloped Potatoes

Scalloped Potatoes
Our house has to be clean. Apparently a part of this whole pregnancy thing is that Caylie wants the entire house to be as clean as it has ever been. This week's project was the kitchen. Now, when I say that we cleaned the kitchen, this means that everything had to be clean...inside and out...and not just dusted, vacuumed or wiped down. We had to go through everything to get rid of food we would apparently never eat...some of which, I'm sure, was just purchased. Upon cleaning out one of the cupboards, we found about six boxes of scalloped potatoes. At first I thought that this was just a part of the pregnancy...she forgets things...but, after thinking about it further, it could not have been. I mean, I'm not sure I remember a time that Caylie ever made scalloped potatoes. Not for me. Not for anyone else. But there they were, as if we ate them all the time and quite often...six boxes.

Reece Cups
Today Caylie looks at me and tells me that she wants me to make a special trip into town, just so that she can get a pop and a candy bar. I find this ridiculous, seeing as we have many cold drinks to choose from in the refrigerator, and try to get her to stay home...but I lost. We had to go. We get to the gas station, and upon checking out at the cash register, I find that my drink comes with free Reece Cups. Thrilled, I decided that, yes, I would take the free Reece Cups and put them in the freezer for later. Frozen Reece Cups are one of my favorite things in life. I repeat, frozen Reece Cups are one of my favorite things in life.

After a delicious dinner, prepared by my wife (no scalloped potatoes), she went to rest for a bit. After laying around, I decided that, being the wonderful and caring husband that I am, I would check on her to see if she was alright (I mean, this kid should be here any day now, right? I have to check). She asks me to rub her back, and I did...I always do. Afterwards, I said excitedly, "Hey! I think I'll have those frozen Reece Cups!"

Silence.

Yes. It's as you expected. She ate my beloved Reece Cups. Both of them. I don't know why I was surprised...nothing is safe in the house right now. But to not even leave me one?!?!

Alright...I've had some complaints that I haven't updated the blog in awhile. In a LONG while. However, if any of you read the very first post (the one from forever ago) you would know that I wasn't going to keep it up. Let's just hope that this doesn't translate into the practice of parenthood.

Anyway...an update. We are now down to the last few weeks of the pregnancy and Caylie is miserable. This week has been the first that she has complained throughout the entire pregnancy, and she says that she is feeling all kinds of pains. This makes me feel like it may not be too long before our little girl is here.

Also, she has been a bit grumpy, and it seems that I have lost ability to do things correctly. Apparently I am horrible at giving directions. Also, I am quite slow and am horrible at killing all the bugs in the world. This makes me hope that it will not be too long before our little girl is here.

More later...I promise...
