Quick question...

Why is it that everyone suggests that we name the kid after them? Seriously. This has happened a bunch of times already, and I figure it will just happen more.

The kid will not be named after you.
(If you're willing to pay, we'll talk...that goes for everyone...I mean, Lucas Oil Dicken wouldn't sound too bad for the right price...right?...Target Dicken?...Coca-Cola Dicken?)

  1. Oh, friend, buckle up...wait til Caylie is showing and perfect strangers throw their two cents worth in on every intimate detail of her pregnancy and beyond. ENJOY! You're about to get REAL familiar with a whole bunch of people you haven't even met yet! ;)

  2. Congrats Wes & Caylie! Welcome to the wonderful world of parenthood, where you will quickly learn you're incompetent, and in several years, the stupidest parents on earth! Bundle of joy ain't I?? HA HA!

Seriously, we're thrilled for you guys! Look forward to peeking into your garage once in a while to see how baby's cookin'! :)

  3. So....does that mean Christina Joy is out? (Trying to help you out Chris!) Let's not forget...Caylie is a teacher, that adds a whole other list of "no-ways" to the name list. My Grandma suggested Mary Louise to honor both grandmas when I was pregnant with Harrison (didn't know he was a boy yet....obviously). I told them if we became a devout Catholic family we would consider it. If I said I like the name Emma my mom would say "well, I think EMILY is nice"....and that's how it went. I do recall my dad holding Harrison when he was a newborn and saying "I didn't know why they would name you Harry...but you are pretty hairy." Someone I worked with announced "oh no, I don't like last names as first names". (I don't recall asking her opinion.) And people are forever calling Clara "Claire". If I correct them they always say "really? ClarA". Whatever! A friend of ours called their baby boy "Hondo Wishbone" until he was born and wouldn't give away the name they had chosen. I think that is the way to go!!! Hugs to Caylie!!!
